Family Friendly Flat, easy trail

Need to Know

Restrooms are available at the trailhead. The gate to the reserve closes after dark.

Description

This is a basic loop in the Oregon Trail Reserve along Highway 21. Be sure to check out the signs at the trailhead for some historic info, then enjoy an easy hike or jog on this loop. It goes through sagebrush prairie that is mostly flat, but you'll have views over the basalt bench to Southeast Boise and the Boise River flowing into town. From this loop you can connect with other trails in the reserve to make a longer hike.

The trail is named for Ezra Meeker, who traveled the Oregon Trail as a young man and later in his life worked to preserve the legacy of the trail with publicity and monuments.
