Overview
This lollipop loop leads through the eastern part of Spenceville Wildlife Area and takes you to Shingle Falls, also known as Beale Falls, a great waterfall on Dry Creek.
Description
From the parking lot, head north across Dry Creek over the old bridge and then turn right. The trail soon turns into
Spenceville Road and parallels Dry Creek for a bit before heading north up the hill. After 1.2 miles turn right leaving
Spenceville Road and hike up the grassy hill south, then drop back down towards Dry Creek. Follow the dirt road as it parallels Dry Creek until you reach the viewing platform for Shingle Falls.
Views of the falls are best in the afternoon when the sun comes around. On the way back, take the
Upper Shingle Falls Trail which saves you some of the elevation and rejoins
Lower Shingle Falls Trail after a mile. Trace back your steps via
Spenceville Road.
