At the west end of the River Trail, while remaining on the valley floor, take a left-hand turn (south) up a steep dirt trail through the National Forest, ending on the north end of Country Club Drive in the Mountain Village.

From here, it is a short hike through the Mountain Village Center to the gondola, where you can catch a free ride back into Telluride. The trail is one mile one-way from Hwy 145 and closer to 0.75 miles from the River Trail.
