This short, gently graded trail provides families with the perfect opportunity to get out in nature with their children.
Overview
This trail provides visitors with a place to experience the beautiful and harmonious natural surroundings that the Smokies offer without requiring a demanding trek along one of the parks longer, more strenuous hiking trails.
Description
Beginning at the parking area, follow the paved trail through verdant deciduous forests blanketed by soft green moss and fallen leaves to the banks of a flowing stream. Near the stream, take your time, perhaps sit and eat lunch, and try to fully absorb your spectacular surroundings before leaving the river and heading back to the parking area around the other section of the loop.
Along the trail, be sure to stop and view the numerous exhibits detailing the area's previous use as cleared farmland and its active reclamation by the surrounding forest.
Flora & Fauna
Lush eastern hardwoods and shade-loving, mossy undergrowth dominate the woodlands surrounding this trail.
