Overview

This is a favorite loop from the village for a lunchtime hike, early morning training hike or a leisurely jog with the family that combines a handful of trails.

The route features gradual climbing out of the village for the first mile on Village Loop. Then about 0.4 miles of steeper climbing on Buddy's Way up to the switchbacks of the Aspen Glade trail. The rest of the loop is mostly downhill on Cinch and Village Loop back across the mountain and down to the village.

Need to Know

There is a horse trail at the bottom of Aspen Glade where you may encounter trail riders from the Beaver Creek Stables. The gondola name has been changed to Haymarket Exprees #1. There were no trail markers or direction arrows but easy enough to find. GPS locator worked during hike.

Description

This hike starts on the Back Lawn of Beaver Creek next to the Centennial Express Chair Lift. Enjoy a quick stretch and warm-up in the grass before heading out.

Start by hiking towards the Buckaroo Express Gondola. At the gondola, turn right heading uphill on the dirt road. Take your first left heading back underneath the gondola. Stay left under the gondola and cross the road via the pedestrian bridge. Loop around the bridge onto Village Loop trail.

Take Village Loop trail uphill to Aspen Glade Trail. Village Loop trail is a gradual climb along the eastern hillside of Beaver Creek. You'll encounter a few switchbacks on singletrack through a stand of aspens before getting on a fire road behind a bunch of homes.

Aspen Glade trail will start at the top of Village Loop just past a park bench on the left side of the trail. This section of trail takes you on a bunch of switchbacks through a beautiful section of Aspens along the eastern boundary of Beaver Creek Mountain. This is the steepest section of the trail. Aspen Glade will top out just past Allies Cabin on Cinch.

Follow Cinch downhill past the top of the Buckaroo Express Gondola and the Highlands Chair. After the Highlands Chair, continue on the road to the left and pass underneath the chair. Soon after going under the chair, you'll jump back on the singletrack to the left side of the road. This is Village Loop which will take you back down to the base of the Ski Area. If you prefer, you can stay on the road instead of the singletrack.

Flora & Fauna

During the fall, it is very common to see elk in this area of the mountain. The singletrack on Buddy's Way and Aspen Glade winds through some aspen stands that are absolutely breathtaking in the fall.
