Description
Iron Gate is an awesome trail, offering a challenge to Pittsburgh'ers whom don't have much trail climbs within the city limits.
Starting from the end of Fire Lane, enter the trail staying left at the first two forks. You'll know you are on the correct path when you come to a 10' long wooden bridge. Be careful at this bridge. It tends to dip 1-2' in the middle, giving a little springboard launch as you cross over.
From this point on there are no major intersecting trails other than Concrete Block, which is easy enough to miss. At the end of the trail you'll be standing above a baseball field, and what might be the highest point in Frick Park.
With 350' of climb in under a mile, this trail tests conditioning. For extra "fun" hit it up in winter when snow and ice have formed.
