Need to Know

Please observe to the different rules and regulations for the Cheaha Wilderness, National Forest, and State Park before entering any of these areas.

Description

The trail travels about 0.1 miles before entering the Cheaha Wilderness. It travels for about 3 miles before reaching Fox Hollow Campsite, named after the creatures that reside here. The trail traverses a rocky area, where the trail is difficult to see. It passes a few views before arriving at another campsite. The trail offers many camping opportunities on its way to the Chinabee Silent Trail. It passes by South Connector Hiking Trail #60A (on the right), and continues (just below the ridgetop).

The trail exits the wilderness (for a brief stint), then re-enters the wilderness again. The trail travels through the remaining 0.6 miles of wilderness, then enters Cheaha State Park. Here, there are many property boundaries, so be please be aware of the different rules and regulations (for each different property). The trail reaches McDill Overlook Spur (on the left), where there is an excellent view and remnants of a plane crash. The trail arcs around the western edge of McDill Point towards Hernandez Peak.

There is no official trail to the summit of Hernandez Peak. The trail descends from Hernandez Peak to a stone marker for the Pinhoti Trail. It passes from Clay County into Cleburne County, and travels for another 0.4 miles before ending at High Point Spur Trail (enters from the right).
