Overview
This is an excellent hike to get out for some exercise and enjoy some partial views. Mt. Sage in Mt Sage National Park on Tortola is the highest point in either the US or British Virgin Islands.
Need to Know
Park fee is $3 per person.
Description
Getting to the trailhead involves navigating the narrow left-hand drive roads to a small parking lot. Be sure to climb up to the top of the Park building there and see the view to the north.
The trail winds through dense tropical forest, partly on a narrow driveway, and then on a singletrack in decent shape as of 2025 with roots and rocks distributed throughout.
The summit is amusing, there is a sign to enjoy the view although the top is surrounded by dense forest. A bit down the trail back to the trailhead there is an open spot with nice northern views over Cane Garden Bay.
Bottom line - a short hike with a few views and a lot of dense vegetation.
Flora & Fauna
Lots of dense forest with a variety of vegetation. For the botanical inclined there are many things to check out. This area is not technically a rain forest but it's close.
