Need to Know
This is an unmarked primitive trail that is not maintained so the trail is uneven, rocky, and may have debris across the trail. Recommended for hikers with navigation skills as visual cues can vary throughout the year.
Description
This is the former
Blue Trail on the Corp of Engineer floodplain near the Etowah River. This trail is a primitive unmarked route with visible remanence nestled amongst mixed hardwood and pine forests traversing ridgelines and bottoms overlooking the nearby creeks.
The former
Blue Trail was a point-to-point connecting trail from the
Green Trail to the
White Trail before the Wildlife Meadow/Historic Homestead. There are posts in place at each end designating the intersection with
Green Trail or
White Trail.
This is not a marked designated Sutallee Trace Trail because the US Army Corps of Engineers controls the floodplain. The Corps strictly regulates any enhancements made to the land they control or deem a trail be removed. The Corps forbids the creation of blazed trails, the construction of footbridges, and the posting of signage. However, the Corps does permit the existence of unmarked trails for hiking.
