Overview

There are a LOT of individual trails connecting to the Thumb Butte recreation area. This particular loop gives you great views and a mix of terrain. It can be easily lengthened or shortened by adding in some "connector" segments. It's dog friendly and has restrooms at the parking lot. About half the route is near the top of the ridge giving you some sun in the winter.

Description

Since this is a loop, you can take it in either direction from the parking lot. We prefer starting at the 316 trailhead directly across from the restrooms and going clockwise (viewed from the top).
