Overview

The Kachina Wetlands are one of the top birding spots near Flagstaff. These constructed ponds are a hotspot for migratory and rare bird sightings according to the Northern Arizona Audubon Society. Whether you know your birds or not, however, these easy trails make an enjoyable and scenic stroll at any time of year.

Description

A network of unofficial trails encircle all of the ponds and meadows in the Kachina Wetlands, so this loop is just one route that you can choose to take. Start from the trailhead in Kachina Village, as mapped here, or make a longer hike with Highlands Trail to get here from Fort Tuthill.

Flora & Fauna

This is a must-visit destination for bird enthusiasts in Northern Arizona.
