Family Friendly
A longer hike but still popular with families
Overview
Want to experience the beauty of Lake Tahoe on the west shore without the crowds—this is your best bet! A moderate hike without any major steep grades that provides a bench with expansive views at its summit. Soft trail the entire way through shaded pine forest.
Description
A relatively easy trail, aside from its long distance, for a day hike,
Stanford Rock Trail has a gentle trail surface of pine needles thanks to the surrounding canopy. There is some rocky footing present near the summit of this volcanic hill. At the very top, a wooden bench provides a resting spot with a truly incredible view of Lake Tahoe.
There isn't camping on this trail, but continuing on the trail to the west will link with the
Tahoe Rim Trail and opportunities for backcountry camping.
