Description
The Tanque Verde Loop Trail was constructed by the Coronado National Forest with help from partner organizations in 2024. It is a family-friendly trail with modest grades and a fairly wide tread. The trail can be accessed from any of the three main parking areas in the Tanque Verde area. Parking in the Lower Lot will mean climbs for the first half and descent in the second half. The opposite is true for parking in the Upper Lot.
The trail provides stunning views of Tanque Verde Canyon and Mica Mountain to the south, and the Catalina's and a smaller canyon to the north. There are also excellent western views of Tucson. This trail is a great place to view the sunset over the city. Take the short side trail to the Overlook for a beautiful view of Tanqure Verde Falls when it is running.
Flora & Fauna
Iconic saguaro cactus, ocotillo, prickly pear, mesquite, and palo verde.
