Description

It is simplest to start at the north end where there is a small parking area, or to pick up the trail in the middle by way of one of the many intersecting trails; the south end opens onto Mt Carmel Ave which has no shoulder and vehicles driving faster than they should (although few of them). This is one of the less-traveled "up and over" red trails, transsecting the Giant around knee level. There are none of the steep scrambles of some of the east-west trails, but cumulatively it is moderately rigorous with a few stretches where footing may be hazardous depending on weather. It is pleasant enough, and quiet, but does not have the stellar views of some of the other trails.
