Overview
When you drive into the Yucaipa area and look to the hills, this peak stands out amongst the rest because of the prominent American flag waving at the top. It is exposed and has a steep ending to the top but you get a really good view of the area from there and you get an amazing view of the mountains as you make your way down to complete the loop!
Need to Know
For the easiest access and least amount of walking to the trailhead, park on the hill at 13th street and you'll already be right across the street from the trailhead.
Description
This hike begins through the gate about 100 feet down from
Three Hawks Trail and Thunderbird Trail. After hiking through the gate, take a hard right turn across a small wooden bridge and begin your trek up to the flag. The trail is slightly overgrown at parts and you are guaranteed to see plenty of lizards since this trail is not used quite as much as the others. Especially the backside going down to
Crafton Hills Ridge Trail. There is a lot of variation which is nice on the legs until you make your way down to
Crafton Hills Ridge Trail. Then you have an easy downhill cruise until you get to
Three Hawks Trail where you can fly down to the main road.
Flora & Fauna
Wildflowers are along the side of the trail for the majority of the loop until Crafton. Keep moving so the bees don't bother you.
