Description

Molas Pass Trail #665 begins at Molas Lake and descends into the Animas River Valley. The bottom of the trail crosses the river on a bridge, and then crosses the Durango Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad to connect with Elk Creek Trail #503. This forms part of Colorado Trail Segment 24 from Molas Pass to Stony Pass.

Molas Trail is moderately rated and features beautiful meadows and flowing creeks. Views of the Grenadier Mountain Range can be seen to the southeast, and views of the West Needle Mountains can be seen to the southwest. This trail is open to trail runners, hikers, backpackers, equestrians, and mountain bikers.
