Description
This isn't so much a trail, as it is an old road (from when the old mills were up and running). The trail starts just beyond a gate, and heads westward. It follows a rough stretch of road, that appears to have been forgotten (by the DCR). The trail passes through a small patch of land, just outside the boundaries of the forest, then re-enters the forest.
The trail turns and follows Roaring
Brook southward. The trail follows Roaring
Brook, closely, and some parts of the trail may be washed out. The trail reaches the junction with
Bridle Path (on the left), and continues southward (staying right). Here, if you look to your right, you can see the remains of an old stone bridge (that was probably once part of the main road). The trail continues to another old stone bridge and skirts around it, to cross over
Horse Hill Brook.
The trail passes by a shallow cave (on the right), just above Roaring
Brook Gorge. It continues, heading southward, until it reaches another set of stone bridge supports. The trail skirts around Crow
Brook, to arrive at
Main Road. The trail ends here, and you'll have to turn back.
