Steep but fun trail that leaves directly from the campground
Description
This trail departs from the Navajo Lake Campground and takes switchbacks through a forested drainage to the top of the ridge. This ridge is part of the Virgin River Rim, or the boundary of the watershed that forms the Virgin River in Zion National Park. From the top of this trail you can find an overlook with a distant view of the national park. Look for the pointy sandstone mesas that form Zion's magnificent skyline.
Hike this trail as an out and back on its own, or combine it with the Virgin River Rim trail and the
Navajo Lake Loop trail to make a roundtrip loop of about 6 miles from the campground.
Flora & Fauna
Shady conifer forest dominated by Engelmann spruce and Douglas fir. Wildflower displays and wild mushrooms pop up in summer.
