The trail follows the outline of Soaproot Ridge. From the parking lot, head uphill until you reach the junction with Overlook Loop Trail after 0.2 miles. Continue straight downhill and reach the other end of Overlook Loop Trail at 0.7 miles. Cross a seasonal creek at 1 mile and head up the Soaproot Ridge. Views to your left are far reaching as you parallel the edge of the ridge. Cross Six Bit Trail at 3.4 miles as the trail turns south and reveals glimpses of Don Pedro Reservoir. The trail ends at a large turnaround, the terminus of Don Pedro Overlook Trail.
