Description
The route starts from the town's main parking lot. Be aware parking is not free during the summer season. Also, the lot right by the falls are reserved for the restaurant's customers.
Hike carefully along the main road until the second intersection. Then, start your ascent toward the small village of Les Combes. This part uses a backroad. There should be little to no traffic. Along your climb, stop and look back, the views onto the nearby mountains will peek here and there, through the greenery.
At Les Combes, go through the small village until a fork (2km/1.2mi). Take a right then, leaving the streets for an actual trail. From then on, the trail is marked and easy to follow. This part of the route offers the best views onto the Cevennes. Some hawks and other prey birds can be spotted, circling.
At 3.3km/2mi, take a left at the fork. Newer signs are here to show you the right trail goes through a private property. You'll then arrive at Las Falguieras hamlet.
From there, follow the fire access road until 3.8km/2.3mi, where the route continues onto a trail, to the right. The trail descends back to the village.
Once at the bottom of the small valley, hike next to the cemetery and go through the village. The proposed traced route goes along the river for a bit – you can skip that part and stays within the village if you prefer. Both will lead you back to the parking lot.
