Overview

While Wilson Arch can be seen from the road for those who do not wish to climb up to the arch itself, Wilson's Arch is a great destination for all levels of hikers.

Description

The hike up is only 5 to 10 minutes, but make sure to pace yourself because it is steep and a little unstable as you traverse over the loose sand and rock. Sturdy footwear is highly recommended. From the parking area you'll see an obvious trail leading up to this impressive formation. Named for Dry Valley pioneer Joe Wilson, this 46-foot tall arch has an impressive span of 91 feet. As you make the final scramble up the Entrada Sandstone you'll start to enjoy the expansive views of the surrounding area. From the top as you sit beneath Wilson Arch you can see extensions of the fin formation of which Wilson Arch is a part in addition to the broad plateau that stretches out toward Canyonlands National Park. Iconic, accessible, and rewarding, this hike to Wilson Arch is a great photo opportunity and a must-do for visitors to the Moab area.
