Need to Know

Dirt Wall Trail functions as an approach trail for climbers starting at the main Box Canyon trailhead. There are small spur trails off the main route that lead to nearby climbing problems, including the namesake Dirt Wall.

There are bathrooms at the Box Canyon Trailhead area.

Description

Dirt Wall Trail is a steep and technical trail descending off the ridgeline. It includes rock slabs and rock steps. The upper segment contours with good views to the west, while the lower segment is steep with tight stepped corners. The trail has significant exposure at key spots so caution is recommended.

Dirt Wall Trail adds some loop options and variety to the Box-Enterprise trail network. It can easily be looped with Gramont Peak Trail and Descansos Trail using the gravel road at the western end of the trail.
