Description
To access the Campground Trail, you can hike through the campground and when you approach campsite 60, leave the road and move to the back of the site and you'll see a sign indicating that the wildlife observation platform is 440 yards down the trail. The trail drops behind the fence and follows the ponds that sit on the right side of the trail.
It is a narrow, singletrack dirt trail with lots of roots that runs along the edge of the water. About half way to the platform, you'll notice a large beaver dam that has created the pond on your left. The trail rolls along the hill between the campground and the water until it finally reaches the observation platform at the end of the trail. Be on the lookout for various birds and mammals that call the area home.
After enjoying the views and solitude, you retrace your steps back to the trailhead. This is a great little trail if you are staying in the campground as it is easily accessible and can provide solitude especially when the campground loop is closed in the fall and winter.
