A Wisconsin State Park System vehicle admission sticker ($8-$11/day or $28-$38/year) is required on all motor vehicles stopping in state parks, forests and recreation areas. Winter trails here are not maintained during summer and access to these trails is not available until the ground is frozen. They are open to snowshoeing, hiking, pets, and ungroomed cross-country skiing. This trail is for winter use only when snow covered.
This trail is for winter use only when snow covered.
Need to Know
This is technically a winter-only trail but can be hiked without snow when the ground is frozen. Unlike other established trails in this state park, parts of the Quarry Trail have almost no signage and blue blazer trail markers appear only infrequently. With or without snow cover, some route finding may be required to follow it. The trail is more obvious in the upland forest.
Description
The Quarry Trail starts at the parking lot near the Camp Interstate Shelter. From there it goes southwest, along Dallas Creek, past South Campground, and then out along the St. Croix River. About 0.9 mi from the parking lot, it swings around a short slough and arrives at a signed junction with the
Point Trail soon after. From this junction, it turns due east across the edge of a large marsh and enters the upland forest. Once in the forest, it goes north around Eagle Peak (it shares a short section of the
Eagle Peak Trail), and then drops down the slope to the parking lot near the shelter.
