Need to Know

There are no restrooms anywhere nearby. Cell phone service can be spotty in this area. Very limited parking.

Description

This trail starts off of Wright's Lake Road. Park on the narrow turn off just above where the trail leaves the road. There is only room for 3-4 vehicles, so have a back-up trail nearby if you can't find a spot. The trail begins as a two track road with some broken pavement in places. If you're feeling lazy, and you have a high clearance vehicle (it might help of it's 4WD), you can drive the first 3/4 mile and park in a small dirt lot. Otherwise, this first section is an easy stroll with some nice views.

Once you reach the parking area at the end of the two track, the trail continues as a somewhat hard-to-see singletrack. You can find it at the south end of the lot heading toward the spires. The terrain becomes much steeper and rougher at this point. There are many rocks, roots, other obstacles. It is likely not well suited for taking granny or the toddler for a hike.

If you feel comfortable on adventurous terrain, however, this should not be very hard. The trail continues for a short distance until it reaches the spire area. This area is characterized by the massive granite formations and scattered boulders. There are many paths to explore and places to watch the rock climbers. Turn on your adventure brain and find some cool things!

If you continue to the West, between the Upper and Middle Spires, there is an incredible lookout where you can take in the valley. If you're a daredevil, you can scramble/climb to the top of a cairn-like formation for an even better vantage point. This is also a great place to view all three of the main spires.

Flora & Fauna

Lots of dry, thorny bushes that can scratch you up if you're not paying attention.
