Need to Know
Official climbing season is July 10th - September 10th
Description
The trail starts with a relatively gradual incline through forested areas. Compared to other routes, the Gotemba Trail has a longer approach, resulting in a more gradual ascent in the beginning. Hikers navigate through switchbacks and rocky paths, slowly gaining elevation as they move up the mountain.
As climbers progress, the trail becomes steeper and more challenging. The Gotemba Trail is known for its extensive sections of volcanic scree, loose gravel, and ash.
Along the Gotemba Trail, there are several mountain huts and rest areas, designated as stations, where climbers can rest and replenish their supplies. These stations, numbered from the 6th to the 8th, offer basic facilities.
As hikers reach the higher stations, the trail narrows, and becomes rocky.
