Porta-potty in the parking lot.
Description
Parking at the trailhead is at the Fauquier Education Farm. Navigate to 8428 Meetze Road. Signs point the way to the trail access at the far end of the parking lot. A fence divides the parking area from the Warrenton Greenway, which ends at the point where traffic turns into the parking lot from Meetze Road.
The trail begins along the fence line to the left of the sign board, staying to the left of the barn where the first trail post can be found. The trail is fairly easy, crossing gently rolling farmland right-of-way. The trail sometimes parallels horse trails and at other times shares the horse trails. There are several turns for various horse trails where it's not too clear which way is the hiking trail -- but the hiking trail is marked by posts with a hiker symbol.
The trail ends at the Laurel Ridge connector trail, which continues to the parking lot of Laurel Ridge Community College. An out and back hike to the college parking lot from the trailhead off Meetze Road is about 2.9 miles. One could also park at the college and hike in the opposite direction, or park along the Warrenton Greenway and extend a walk on the Greenway to the Stafford Farm Trail.
