Need to Know

Camping is not permitted anywhere along this trail; camping is only permitted at the designated campsites in Green Mountain National Forest. Overnight parking is not permitted at the Somerset Picnic Area; the picnic area closes at 9:30.

Description

This trail starts from the parking area at the end of Somerset Road and runs along the eastern edge of the reservoir. The trail passes by a spur of the snowmobile trail at the halfway point. The trail continues until it reaches East Trail/ East Loop.

This trail acts as the Catamount Trail, during the winter.

Flora & Fauna

Flora: White Birch, Yellow Birch, White Pine, Balsam Fir, Beech, Red Spruce, Rock Polypody, Hobblebush, Striped Maple, Sugar Maple.
Fungi: Chaga, Tinder Polypore, Birch Polypore.
Fauna: Grey Squirrel (tracks), Coyote (tracks), Beaver (gnawmarks), Woodpecker.
