Overview
This technical hike/scramble offers the maximum wow factor with the minimum approach time. Ride the Eggishorn tram up, hike the route, and ride the Bettmeralp gondola down. Going this direction has gradually increasing difficulty and exposure with less overall ascent. Fixed cables, steel bars, and wooden stairs and bridges provide assistance on the steepest sections.

Description
Ride the Fiescheralp gondola and Eggishorn tram to the top. The trail starts behind the hut with the hot tub, just west of the tram. Hike up to the communication tower and then down behind it. Enjoy the widlflowers along the steep descent to the grassy saddle. In the saddle, go right at the junction.
The surface becomes all rocks as you ascend the ridge. There are some rock steps, then boulder-hopping, scrambling, and a partial ladder with iron bars and a cable. Continue up surprisingly steep terrain as the trail wraps around the southern side of the horn to a flat ridge with more glacier views. This is a great rest stop and photo op.
You can see the next section of the ridge is narrower and more exposed. Follow the markers across more rocks up and down on the ridge until you reach the last high point, Bettmerhorn. Find a flat spot to to enjoy views of the broad valley, including the mountain villages of Bettmeralp and Riederalp.
Begin the steep descent on rock, then wooden stairs and bridges. You'll end up at the Bettmeralp gondola, which leads to lunch and cold beverages.
