Overview
This is a short, easy hike that goes up to Rainbow Falls.
Need to Know
There isn't a fee for parking, but the parking area is limited to only a few cars at a time.
Description
This trail starts off Cummings Hill Road and heads westward, following the
Ruth Walter Trail. It travels along the southern edge of the marsh as it makes it way to the falls. It reaches a nice little cove below Rainbow Falls, where there's a few benches. The trail continues (over a small footbridge) and follows the
Newton Trail. It passes by a few viewpoints, overlooking the marsh. The trail hugs the northern edge of the marsh as it makes it way to the parking area.
Flora & Fauna
Flora: Alders, Blue-Bead Lily, Starflower, Fringed Polygala, Bugle, Dandelions, Dewberries, Honeysuckle.
Fauna: Chipmunks, Mosquitoes, Flies, Swallowtail Butterfly, Bumblebees.
History & Background
This trail passes by
Old Stagecoach Road, which (as the name suggests) was probably an old road.
