Parking can get crowded, so get there early if possible or park further down the road at the picnic area.
Overview
This trail is a difficult trail with steep terrain, multiple switchbacks, and some loose dirt along the way. About 85% of the trail after the fork is exposed to sunshine and the elements with very little tree cover. Great views worth the climb at the end.
Description
This trail starts along a shared path to other trails. There are multiple switchbacks along the way, but the trail is clearly marked. Once you arrive at the fork, the trail thins out a bit. In the winter months, the trail is often covered with snow and no longer visible.
The trail follows two peaks after the fork, so be sure to continue on the path after clearing the first peak. You'll get great views of other peaks in the valley and one of the canyons in Charleston. There is plenty of foliage along the way as well as some natural blooms. The last little leg of the hike is probably the steepest area of the hike, but it is a short distance.
