Family Friendly
Though there's a good bit of uphill, a slow pace and access to/from town make this a good option for the whole family.
Need to Know
Grab your bear spray, as black bears are common in this area.
Description
This lollipop loop has become a local favorite for a relatively quick but solid effort. You might not get the sweeping views of some of the surrounding trails, but the accessibility can't be beat.
Going clockwise (as mapped), you'll get going right from the start with a fairly sustained climb that tops out after around one mile. At this northwestern-most point, you'll head right (southeast) through the trees, following well-earned level ground along the contours of the ridge above. Keep an eye out for deer, elk, moose, or black bears.
There are a few branching trails and cut-offs to shorten or extend your trip, or just to mix it up after you've done the loop a few times. This loop can take anywhere from 1.5 to over 2 hours depending on pace.
