Dogs Leashed
Description
This hike begins under the Tangerine Road bridge, accessed usually through either the Big Wash or from the trail east of Palisades/Catalina Shadows. The trail starts out south and quickly reaches an old, green cattle gate. Through this gate there's a steep uphill section that's partially washed out and always gets the heart pumping a bit. At the top of the incline you'll be by the new Silverhawke neighborhood, head left (east), past the cell phone tower and down the dirt access road between Catalina Shadows and Silverhawke.
Eventually, this opens onto the Palisades Road (there's a multi-use paved path there) and if you cross the road the trail picks back up immediately onto singletrack. This section of trail was built in 2021 by the Town of Oro Valley and descends a good amount. The trail winds across minor drainages, over somewhat rocky terrain, and eventually spills out by a dirt road.
Unofficial routes exist from here that can link up to the CDO or 1st Avenue, but the trail continues on south a short way until it dead ends, with future connectivity planned to the CDO path from that point.
