A fun and surprisingly challenging section of trails at the Oro Valley Naranja Park. The northwest section of this trail goes across a wash area before heading uphill and nearby to a gate leading into Copper Creek Elementary. Heading south from that gate entrance there is another connector out to the Copper Creek neighborhood as well. South of this connector you begin to enter the walking archery range portion of Naranja Park. This area isn't heavily used by archers and all the targets face inward, away from the trail. Therefore, there's basically no danger but anytime you're in the proximity of an archery course you want to be aware. You'll find this section of trail quite rocky and with short but steep pitches. Once reaching the southwest portion of the trail there are some short connectors out to Naranja Road before meeting up with the entrance road at Naranja, which has a path alongside the road leading to the main park area. Crossing this road to the east and you'll link up with the eastern half of the walking archery course & trails. Upon getting to the southeast corner the terrain once again gets hillier, with similar short, steep pitches like on the westside. The trail meets back up with the flatter, easier main loop trail just a bit east of the southern multi-use field. This section of trail has been used for the VFR 5k, XC meets, and other events that make for a challenging short distance race.
