Description
The Dahoma Historic Hiking Trail is named for the area around the trail and highlights the extensive history of the area. Early on, the land in this area was used for turpentining and timber production. As time passed, the cattle industry took hold as the land allowed for open grazing and provided adequate grass and forage for cattle.
During the American Revolution, the Battle of Thomas Creek took place in the general area, although it is not known exactly where along Thomas Creek, which flows just to the south of the trail. Be on the lookout for interpretive signage, with new historical signage being added soon!
Flora & Fauna
Numerous flowering plants in Spring and Summer, white-tail deer, fox squirrel, grey fox, gopher tortoise, and many other species can be encountered along the trail.
