“A short climb up this nature trail takes you to a breathtaking view of the East China Sea.
”
Family Friendly
This nature trail is short and the path is well marked and wide to accommodate families.
This trail may be closed during and after rainy weather.
Need to Know
This nature trail is part of the Okuma Beach Military Resort. As such, it is restricted to only those with military I.D. cards or base access privileges. The nearby Okuma Beach Mart has all the staples needed for a short hike and day at the beach. There is also a public restroom there and parking.
Description
This hike is short and, though steep in some parts, is easily navigated by younger and older hikers. Hikers should be wary of the weather and avoid the hike if it has been raining. Some of the sections could be treacherous and slick, especially for those with poor hiking footwear.
This nature trail begins close to golf pro-shop and Okuma Beach Mart, just across from the security force police station. The initial climb is steep with brief flat sections that help accommodate younger and older hikers. The climb ends with a view of the East China Sea at a resting point. This rest area is right up against the cliff's edge, but well protected with a fence. From there, hikers can go back down the way they came or find the trail to the east and come down from the rest area along the ocean's edge.
This latter trail comes out at and then follows the beach for roughly 50 meters before turning inland. Coming off the beach, hikers then follow the paved streets back to the original starting point, ending the hike.
