Need to Know
Make sure you stay on the trail, NFS has made an effort to close social trails in this area and you'll see 3-5 signs for "restoration area".
Description
Overall: Very fun alternative to
Limbaugh Canyon Trail. Really well-build trail with a bomber decent that's an excellent way to get some extra elevation gain.
Getting There: From
Mount Herman Trailhead (716), take the trail about 200m from the trailhead; at the trail intersection make a left and follow the creek. From the
Limbaugh Canyon Trail, about 400m from the final creek access, make a sharp right at the trail intersection and continue up a steep hill; stay left, if you stay right the trail will drop you back down into
Limbaugh Canyon Trail.
Description: The trail starts out with a moderate grade and winds along following an intermittent stream. After a 800m, the trail steepens, departs the stream, and eventually gains the Raspberry Mountain ridgeline after another 800m. The next mile is flowing goodness along the ridgeline, enjoy that while it lasts. The final mile descends sharply into Limbaugh Canyon with a combination of smooth trail and rocky gullies. The trail ends at a T intersection with
Limbaugh Canyon Trail.
