Moderately challenging singletrack with great Rio Grande Valley views to start and a nice tie-in to Piedra Lisa #135.

Need to Know

There's a restroom at the parking lot that is immediately next to the trailhead. Parking is free.

Description

Starts from the same trailhead as Piedra Lisa Trail #135. There's a sign for this trail (Del Agua). Take Del Agua to the right (south) instead of heading straight (west) to catch Piedra Lisa.

The trail is moderately steep at the start, but definitely runnable. The trail flattens a bit after the first half mile or so and heads south. This portion of the trail has great views of the Rio Grande Valley. You can see from Redondo Peak in the Jemez to the north to Mount Taylor to the southwest. The trail then heads east into the mountain.

There are a few steep sections but, again, mostly runnable. There's more forest and vegetation as you head east. I even ran through a small cottonwood grove growing in a dry streambed. The trail becomes a little harder to follow as it gets closer to Piedra Lisa Trail #135.

Flora & Fauna

Bluebirds, snakes, lizards, pinon, cottonwood.
