Need to Know
Entrance fees or a Virginia State Park Pass required for access. This is a working farm, so be mindful of livestock.
Description
An easy hike through the main historic area of Chippokes Plantation State Park. First section of the trail is forested and parallels the James River, with access paths to the beach. Large fossilized clam shells can sometimes be found on the beach there. Last section is open and traverses the historic working portion of the plantation along Quarter Lane (not open to vehicles). It includes the main plantation house, and various out-buildings. It is still a working farm, so there may be livestock present (i.e., cows, horses, goats, etc.). Parking lots at both ends of the trail.
