Description
Start at the parking lot behind the Indian Lodge. Follow the
Indian Lodge Trail until the trail wraps around the
Indian Lodge Trail Rock Outcrop. Take the path to the outcrop for great views of the park and Davis Mountains, with shade under the oak trees. Return to
Indian Lodge Trail and follow it up along the ridge line. There are good views of both the park, as well as the Davis Mountains from the ridge line.
You should also be able to spot the McDonald Observatory from here too. The trail winds back down the ridge line for more views of the Davis Mountains. When you reach the junction with the
Montezuma Quail Trail, take a right. Follow the
Montezuma Quail Trail back down to the main park road. Take a right at the park road and follow it back toward the Indian Lodge. There is a park restroom along this portion of the road. When you get near the lodge, take a right at the unmarked path and follow it back to the parking lot.
Flora & Fauna
Typical West Texas flora and fauna can be found here. Yucca is very prevalent along the
Indian Lodge Trail ridge line.
