Description
This is the dirt trail portion of the famous Boxer's Trail, which also has a street section.
There's usually a lot of free parking along Edgley Drive at the northern terminus of the trail. Starting there, the trail takes you down a hill, along a creek, and then up a ridgeline through the forest, with Kelly Drive down to your right and, to your left, a few side trails that lead to historic buildings, like the Ormiston Mansion.
The southern terminus comes up fast and steep as you descend to Fountain Green Drive. Hike back to the northern terminus on the trail or, if you prefer not to hike back the way you came, take the roads by hiking first along Fountain Green Drive and then along Reservoir Drive until you see Edgley Drive to your left.
While you hike, think about all of the Philadelphia boxing legends that have done the same path, preparing for a fight.
