My favorite trail at the Heard Museum! It's almost spooky inside the cedar brake.

Description

This loop trail is accessed off the Wood Duck Trail. The trail is not improved with gravel like the other Heard trails, and was more muddy when I visited. Most of the trail goes through a dense cedar brake, and it's very different from the other trails here. It's a little spooky.

The bottoms of the cedars have bare branches that make the trees appear dead. The trees are thick and there is very little underbrush here. It's a special place.

One section of the trail runs along the edge of a meadow with lots of native plants and wildflowers, but most of the trail is shaded. It's a fairly flat trail with no obstacles.

Flora & Fauna

Cedars! Wildflowers in the meadow. Lots of birds.
