The trailhead starts next to one of the Dewey Lake boat ramps then continues right onto a shaded well maintained trail. The trail follows the perimeter of a small outcropping of land that juts out at the side of the lake. Most of the lake view is obscured by trees, but there are posts with signs that correlate to a brochure ( parks.ky.gov/prestonsburg/t…) to give information of local flora.

After a bit of up and down the trail loops back to the trailhead.
