Description

This rail trail runs between County Road 9 near Grenfell and Elmvale in the township of Springwater. It is popular with trail users exploring the 6,000 hectare Minesing Wetlands, as well as historic Fort Willow, Mayer's Marsh and attractive farmland and forests. Stop at the Meyer's Marsh observation desk and the Minesing Wetland overview for sightings of Great Blue Herons.

Visit Fort Willow, a former military station during the War of 1812, and look at the remains of housing, a stable, kiln and blockhouse. The main town is Elmvale where a number of heritage homes indicate the loyalist, African American slave and European settlement patterns typical of the region.
