Description

This trail follows an old railroad grade that was part of the West Side Flume and Lumber Company network. It was in operation between 1899 and 1960 transporting over 3 billion board feet of timber to the Westside Mill.

The railroad tracks are still very visible except for the very first section of the trail. Contrary to the elevation profile, the trail is very flat with only a low gradient. Most of the trail provides great views across the valley. The official trail ends just past the River Ranch Campground, but you can continue further and keep following the tracks.
