Description

The trail begins at the trailhead just east of the minigo. Where you climb to a bench with a fantastic view of Medora. From there, you'll continue up the trail to where the trail forks, starting the loop portion of the hike. Head left and you'll be greeted by three sets of ladders to ascend the steepest part of the trail.

For your safety, it is recommended that you ascend and descend the ladder with your body position facing the ladder in both directions. Once at the top, you are again greeted with even more amazing views and a bench to catch your breath.

Head south and you'll traverse the top of the butte to the south end of the loop where you'll negotiate a series of stairs as you descend back down towards town. Follow the trail back along the bottom of the butte to the trail junction, turn left back to the trailhead.
