This is a flat, very pleasant, out-and-back road that is 0.8 miles each way. It passes through low marsh scrub and flowers with wide-open views. The last half runs first near the Tijuana River and then next to a slough until it dead-ends at a point between two sloughs. There is no access to the beach or any other trail via this road.

This area is an ideal spot for birders. The park is part of the Pacific Flyway. A huge variety of bird species have been reported here. I saw only a few large waterfowl in the early evening, but if you are a birder, you'll know the best times to come, and when the migratory birds arrive to join the local birds. Signs warn of rattlesnakes. I did not see any, but a saw many snake tracts crossing the dust of the road.
