Description

This out-and-back is quite steep in places but has pretty sturdy terrain, other than some stretches of loose rock. Dutch John Spring itself, though placed at the end of this trail on many maps, is actually about halfway in. A little while after the wooden sign announcing that you're entering the Mt Wrightson Wilderness, there is a path on the left that leads down to the spring. It's about half a mile in.

There is no sign announcing the end of the trail; it just kind of peters out. At this point, climbing up a dirt and rock path that opens up to a grassy area will reward you with a pretty fantastic view.
