Fun TGIF hikes into Stormfield via Sandy's Trail sometimes begin and end at the nearby Redding Road House!

Approaching from the Rt. 107 rather than veering left through a stone wall continue along an ancient road bed over an intermittent stream. At the end of the old road the trail veers left to wind through forest now overgrown with invasive Japanese barberry but eventually emerges to a lovey field with stands of succession red cedar.

From the end of Mark Twain Lane where parking is limited due to private driveways simply traverse the field bearing left to the back field and Sandy's North entrance or stay on the diagonal in the main field until Sandy's Trail proper is found entering the woods. Hikers reaching Mark Twain Lane can then pick up Halley's Comet connecting to all of Stormfield.

Lovely varities of milkweed (Asclepias) in the field are important to the Monarch butterfly. The trail runs primarily through mixed hardwood, but begins in a magnificent hemlock forest at the southern end.
