Need to Know

Dogs are definitely not allowed here - apparently many have fallen to their deaths over the years.

Description

This trail is a former road and bridge that could no longer support the traffic on Hwy 97. The cool newer Hwy 97 bridge is just east and an older but still used railway bridge is just west.

The bridge now functions as an excellent viewpoint of the 300 foot deep basalt gorge and Crooked River far below. On clear days the Cascades offer a great backdrop over the rail bridge.

You'll likely grab this trail from near the restrooms and information kiosk at the NE corner of the parking area and turn around mid-bridge. Not much point in continuing north on it!
